"I'm managing." 

That's what you say when people ask how business is going. "I'm managing." 

Because you can't say you're broke. 

You can't say you're tired of borrowing to cover bills. 

You can't say you've been thinking about closing down and finding work.

So you say you're managing.

But deep down you know this isn't sustainable. One good month, one bad month.

Today money comes, tomorrow nothing. You can't plan anything.

School fees time gives you pressure because you don't know if you can pay.

Business requirements and family requirements are fighting every month. 

You've even thought about letting some staff go because you don't know if you can make next month’s salaries.

Here's what makes it worse: you're good at what you do.

Your clients are happy. The work you deliver gets results. When people hire you, they get exactly what they need.

But that doesn't fill your calendar.

 And being good at your work doesn't make new clients appear.

You rely on somebody recommending you. You wait for referrals. You post something on Social media when you remember.

You print flyers that just sit there when you don't find someone to give them away in traffic.

You're literally gambling your entire business on other people's memory.

The Day Everything Changed For Me

January 2021. I had ₵1,197.36 in my bank account.

Not ₵1,197 profit. ₵1,197 total. 

That's what was standing between my family and complete disaster.

Three kids asking why daddy was always worried. 

A wife who stopped asking about work because she could see it in my face every single day.

I was a few weeks away from shutting everything down.

You know that feeling when you're checking your account and praying something—anything—comes in?

I was living that every single day.

I was doing everything right. Good work. Strong reputation.

But my business was dying because new clients were not coming in unless somebody recommended me or met someone and force my way to pitch to them.

I couldn't control when people would refer to me.

I couldn't control when someone would remember my name.

I couldn't control when my phone would ring from a new lead.

I was running a business I couldn't control.
